My blog on various things electrical, mechanical, and AI

The introduction page for my computer engineering projects.

I love embedded systems design, and creating programs that interface with the real world. I have been involved in computers since I was 13 years old and have a bachelor of computer systems engineering degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Arkansas. I have worked on diverse projects such as an insurance database for Walmart, a system of sensors for monitoring agricultural lands, design of a router chip while at Intel Corporation, a bit rate tester for fiber-optic systems, and many others.

I'm familiar with a number of languages, including PL/1, C, C++, Python, Perl, Java, Visual Basic, and many assembler languages. Currently I am very interested in the Raspberry Pi as a small, real time operating systems control device.

I normally operate linux computer systems. currently I'm working with linux Mint and Raspian.

Contact me if you have questions, would like to see my resume and professional documents, or wish to discuss possible work.

This is my GitHub site, where I keep all my public projects and tools That I develop. I have a script here that will install wxpython phoenix to your python 3.4 interpreter.

Here are some of my current projects:

link to more information on Grendel One

A homemade robot to explore robotics development and artificial intelligence, including natural language processing. My main project at this time. It is named Grendel One. as of Sept 8th 2015 it is basically a skeleton and some robotics. It is based around a Raspberry Pi, and will eventually use a number of Raspberry Pi's configured as a beowulf cluster as its brain, with portable hard drives (2TB and greater) as its memory, and smartphone battery packs for power when it cannot connect to the grid. It uses model airplane servos for motor control and I'm working on implementing under-actuated control systems for movement. AI development is in the plans for this winter.

Grendel project at GitHub

A python program to read data from a MCP3008 Analog digital converter and output it to a Raspberry Pi terminal screen.. the code is at the github site

MCP3008 project at GitHub

A GUI text parser that determines word counts, complexity of the text, and outputs vocabulary as a list (for use with programs such as memrise or anki.)

My Parser project at GitHub

A simulation of politics and future developments of the human race.

My political game project at GitHub

Ride a bike you'll feel better...

Good reasons to ride a bike:
1. You'll be healthier
2. Save gas money
3. Save wear and tear on the car
4. Less traffic on the roads
5. Costs less to maintain a bike than a car
6. Gives you an excuse to buy a wicked cool bicycle
